HAYDOCK have made history by becoming the first amateur side outside the National Conference to reach the fourth round of rugby league's prestigious Challenge Cup.

They went to London and defeated Wests Wariors 26-12 to go into the hat for the next round where they will be joined by all the teams from the Championship.

The Yickers got off to a great start with a try from Rob Sexton and that lead was doubled when Jordan Gibson crossed. Dean Dollin goaled both.

Andrew Bacon grabbed Haydock’s third converted try to put them in complete control, but the hosts got a toe hold in the game with a converted score to make it 18-6 at the break.

Haydock were quick out of the traps in the second half with Kyle Braithwaite touching down.

Although Wests pegged it back to 24-12 with 15 minutes to play, Haydock made it a three score lead with a Gibson penalty.

The reigning North West Men's League champions go into the bag for Tuesday night’s draw, looking for a plum tie in the next round.
