THE top of the table clash ended with a narrow win for Warrington after Pilks had pushed them all the way.

It was Town who had the 1st chance as early as the 4th min when a scuffed low shot brushed the Pilks post.

On 12 minutes Pilks went ahead when McCausland converted from a corner.

Taylor then fired a free kick over the bar in the 17th min before Town had a goal ruled out for a clear offside in the 34th min.

A minute later and Taylor cut the ball back to Boylan who really should have made it 2-0 from sixyards out.

In the 44th minu, Pilks survived another scare when keeper Rob Cork made a superb save before Taylor had the last chance of the half when he couldn’t pop the ball over the advancing keeper.

Early in the 2nd half and Boylan had the first chance but couldn’t capitalise and Cork then made a superb save on 51 mins when he stretched to tip a Warrington shot over the bar.

Pilks best chance of the 2nd half came in the 55min when Smailes and Taylor combined to deliver a perfect cross which was steered wide by Boylan.

On 70mins, a fierce low drive from 35 yards gave Pilks keeper Rob Cork no chance, a superb equaliser.

Four mins later Mason sent an instinctive header against the Warrington bar before they took the lead a minute later when the ball was headed home from a superb cross.

In injury time, Pilks were denied a penalty when a very high boot caught Mason on the head however the referee apparently saw nothing amiss.

Still plenty to play for and Pilks remain well placed to challenge for the title.
