IT was a remarkable week for two long-serving members of St Helens Tri club.

While Phil Ellison claimed his now-customary top ten finish in the 47th annual Parbold Hill Race, Alison Abbott swept to a remarkable victory in the 5k race at the Betws-y-Coed Trail running festival, a fitting reward for someone who has contributed to the club cause so many times at the weekly St Helens Parkrun.

Meanwhile at the final round of the Manchester Cross League in Stockport a great performance by Mark Turner cemented his position as the club's most prolific runner in this season' competition.

Club coach Terry Bates is already preparing a calendar of events to promote the club in 2017, with the two showpiece occasions being the third running of the St Helens Triathlon on September 10th and the Rainford 10k on October 1st as well as a members' only duathlon next Sunday.
