NEW Saints scrum half Matty Smith was helped off at half time after picking up a leg injury in the last tackle of the half.
The players around him immediately alerted the touchline to signify the possible seriousness of the injury.
It is not yet clear how serious it is and coach Keiron Cunningham said he feared a lengthy absence for his star
number seven.
He said: "I don't think it is going to be good news, but we have to get him checked out."
Cunningham was not happy with the challenge that led to the injury.
He alleged: "Unfortunately the ninja tackle or whatever it is called strikes again and we'll probably lose another player for a long period."
In response Vikings boss Denis Betts said he had not seen the incident, but would look at it.
"I am disappointed for Matty Smith, obviously, whether it was a lazy tackle or when a big bloke falls on a little bloke that can happen. It is one of those tough things," said Betts.
Danny Richardson stepped into the halves and impressed in the hour he played there.
Saints won 16-0 with tries from debutant Ryan Morgan, Jake Spedding and Theo Fages.
