FC St Helens continued a return to form with a fine 3-2 victory on the road at fellow promotion hopefuls Mersey Valley in Hallmark Cheshire League One.
An early Paul Sweeney strike was cancelled out by two goals for the hosts, before Lee Deakin's excellent finish from outside the box levelled it up once more on the stroke of half time.
After the break, driven on by a man of the match display from captain Liam Houghton, the Red and Whites patience and persistence paid off, with Deakin winning and converting a penalty to claim his 7th goal in 4 games since joining the club.
A solid defensive display saw out the game for FC, who returned down the M62 with a hard earned, but deserved three points.
They now sit second in the league after the result, albeit having played more games than their closest rivals.
