ON a wet Sunday morning four St Helens Striders hit the roads of Manchester to take part in the inaugural Manchester Half Marathon.

The first Strider home in a personal best time of 1:34:33 was Martin Ballard followed by Katie Taggart in 1:55:43, Mark Tuckley in 2:04:47 and Lisa Scully in 2:33:27.

In Liverpool St Helens Striders took on the Grim Reaper in the Beat the Reaper 10k at Croxteth Park. Danny Fegan was the first Strider to cross the finish line in a time of 43:36 followed by Tony Padmore in 45:38, Carol Foster in 47:46, Paul Hargate in 47:53, Peter Teeling in 48:21, Nicola Howarth in 51:20, Jade Booth in 52:52, Louise Padmore in 59:18 and Debs Hill in 1:03:25.

A little further afield 3 St Helens Striders took on the Stickle Grind Uphill Fell Race in Cumbria.

Kevin Brennan was the first Strider to finish the tough uphill course in 35:05, followed by Gary Spriggs in 41:25 and Simon Poole in 51:37.
