SAINTS boss Keiron Cunningham was bitterly disappointed with the calls that cost his side a place at Old Trafford.

He highlighted game changing incidents in the first half and then focused on the try and no-try at both ends of the field in the last quarter that ultimately handed the spoils to Warrington.

Cunningham praised his side's effort as well the performance of a Kurt Gidley inspired Wolves.

Cunningham said: "We fought hard there and played some real semi final football "You just need a little bit of luck and a few of those calls.

"If you look at all the big calls - Ratchford drops the ball and then it goes from a scrum to us to a penalty to them for a loose carry. "Then Sims drops the ball and it was a penalty again.

"They are game changing calls. This happens every week.

"And then look at the video ref decisions today." He felt his players, who battled back from an 8-2 deficit to lead at the break, deserved better than what they got.

"My boys have busted their backsides since last November to get in this game and do what they have done and then people can treat them in the manner that they have been treated and it's fine.

"Tom Lineham drops the ball in the corner and Dom Peyroux scores and it's a different game.

"Sport changes by minute things, it is a game of inches and today it certainly was," Cunningham said.

He paid tribute to a Wolves side seeking their first Championship title since 1955.

"I don't want to detract from what Warrington have done today. I don't want people to think I'm whinging about bad decisions.

"Warrington played exceptionally well and brought a true leader in Gids back and he steered them around well and we were on the back foot for a lot of that first half.

"We did not have one good ball set and did everything from our own half. We were lucky enough to go in in front.

"We thought if we hung in there we would get our chances, but when we did things went against us a little bit.

"In the last 10-15 minutes you can talk about composure but it should never have been a try, so we should not have been in that position," Cunningham said.

"If you look across the team all of them have been immense, the whole group. The juniors who have come in and never looked back to those who have been in and out.

"There have been lots of great performances and we have been through a fair bit of adversity ourselves this year.

"I just we deserved a little bit more than what we got in that game. "
