PILKINGTON Recs continued their push for a play-off space, and in the process secured their Premier Division status for next year, with a 22-14 win over Lock Lane in abysmal conditions.

Ryan Hilliard was first on the score sheet with less than 10 minutes played as Danny Lynch created the space on the right side with the full-back crashing over. Kyran Knapper converted.

Lock Lane responded with a converted try of their own as the powerful prop managed to touch down beneath the posts.

Jamie Smith was next on the score sheet as he used his strength to charge over from close range for a converted try.

Smith then broke free from the kick off, racing 40 metres before feeding Jon Frodsham on the wing who finished from half-way, turning the full back inside out on his way to the line to leave the score 16-6 at half-time.

Knapper extended the lead further with a penalty conversion before the visitors struck with a try from a well executed grubber kick then quickly followed with another try as the prop forward scored his second. The missed conversions left Recs with the advantage.

Two further penalty conversions by Knapper followed by a red card for the visiting stadium off secured the victory for the home side who travel to Wigan St Pats for a must win game of they are to make the playoffs.
