Haydock FC 1 Halton Borough FC 5.

Halton Borough got their season underway with a convincing win over Haydock, despite the home side taking the lead in the first few minutes.

David Buckley equalised for Halton Borough just before the break. HBFC soon made it 2-1 when Kyle Robinson fired across goal looping over the goalkeeper 2-1. Haydock continued to play from the back spreading it wide to stretch the game but the HBFC defence dealt with the crosses coming into them. A goal from Wes Wright and David Buckley getting his hat-trick got Halton Borough’s campaign off to a flying start

Newton athletic 4 Halebank 3.

Wayne Littler opened the scoring for NAFC with a simple header. .Halebank responded well and went into the half time break with a 2:1 lead.

The second half brought a stronger effort from Newton with two from Liam Clarke.

What a start for Clarke but another error soon followed ,this time coming from the normally reliable Ryan Houston allowing Halebank back in the game.

With 10 mins left up stepped debutant Danny Driscoll who played a short corner routine with the impressive Luky Miso before curling in the winner.

Penlake Juniors FC 4-0 Halton Borough FC 3rds.

First game of the season was away to a young Penlake side making their debut in the Warrington District divisions. Penlake broke the deadlock after 30 mins breaking through the defence to make it 1-0. The last 10 minutes of the first half HBFC made two great chances to make it level, but they went into the half 1 down.

Second half Penlake scored in the first five minutes making it 2-0, soon to be 3-0.

HBFC kept going trying to get themselves on the scoresheet, but the pressure from trying to cut through Penlake left them open at the back which Penlake soon exploited to make it 4-0.

HBFC tried to breakthrough in the last 10 minutes but Penlake held strong.

Shell FC 1 Eagle 1.

A depleted Eagles side saw the player manager, and coach making up the bench.

In challenging weather Shell went into the break 1-0 up after being awarded a penalty.

Second have was same as the first, good duals all over the pitch, and Eagle started to dominate but missed 3 good changes in front of goal.

With 30 mins left, player manager Chris Rodger made 2 changes bringing himself and Simon Hughes into the game but it was Joel Goodship who evened the score with a great goal through a Tom Hughes assist. Good battle throughout and a fair result

Monks FC 2 Railway Rangers 2.

Despite Rangers leading the game throughout with 2 goals from Jolley, Monks shared the points at the end after being awarded a late penalty in this close fought tie.

Pex Hill 4 Winwick 1.

Pex Hill quickly went ahead through Jake Shaw. Todd Fry extended the lead with his second goal in two games to give Pex Hill the advantage at half time. Substitute Luke Brodin put the game out of Winwick’s reach, although James Cookson did put his time on the score sheet in the 75th minute.

A final goal from sub Lewis McDonagh cemented the win for Pex Hill

Sankey Vale 4 Widnes Basils 3.

Great hard fought win for Sankey Vale against a strong Widnes Basils with goals from Jonny Kirwan Greg Morley, Jonny McDonough and Josh Wall, final score 4-3.

Knowsley South 0 Grange SC 5.

Grange firsts were in action at Knowsley South hoping to follow on from their fine midweek win over last seasons champions Croft. Once again a young Grange side took the initiative early on and swept into a 2-0 half time lead with goals from Joe Green and Ryan Wilde.. The second half saw much of the same as Grange continue to dominate and goals from Lewis Higham, Sam Roberts and a deserved first of the season from last years leading goal scorer Scott Robinson sealed a fine 5-0 win and ensured they stay on top of the Premier division with a 100% record.

Rockware FC 2 Burtonwood Albion FC 3.

After a sloppy start, Burtonwood managed to take the lead with a penalty courtesy of Joshua Dixon but Rockware clawed one back, squeezing the ball past the goalkeeper at the near post and quickly followed that up with a superb lob. Joshua Dixon managed to level the score for Burtonwood before half time.

At the restart Burtonwood and Rockware couldn't find that killer edge with both sides having a number of half chances but nothing clear cut.

The match was decided when Joshua Dixon is put through on goal and calmly slots past the Rockware goalkeeper, earning the MOM title.
