SAM Wardle, a long-time member of St Helens Tri who is now part of the North West Triathlon Academy, put in one of his best ever performances at the Coniston Mile Swim, finishing in 23:16 good enough for fifth overall and less than half a minute away from the podium.
Meanwhile Sarah Hodgkinson starred at the Wensleydale Half Cheese Triathlon in Yorkshire as her particularly strong run not only gave her 12th overall, but also an runaway win in the female senior category, while Michael Hodgkinson placed a creditable 18th in the Full Cheese event and Diane Taktak knocked over a minute off her 10k PB clocking 56:00 at the Birchwood 10k.
The club is also promoting the St Helens Triathlon and Rainford 10k, held on 25 September and 2 October respectively.
