IT is out of the frying pan and into the fire with Saints heading over to high-flying Catalans Dragons on Saturday.

Saints, who are trying to avoid slumping to their fourth consecutive loss, are going there and back in the same day.

They are unlikely to have Mark Percival or Luke Walsh back, but coach Keiron Cunningham said neither of those two were too far off.

The run of losses has seen Saints drop away from the leading pack, and they could fall even further behind this weekend unless they can pull off a surprise.

Cunningham said: “We knew this was the toughest block of games potentially – coming off the back of not such great form.

“I was proud of them at Hull – we fought hard. Even against Warrington I felt there was improvement in small areas where people won't see.

"Sport is built upon pressure and we were under pressure – whether that is from people telling us we were rubbish, getting behind on the scoreboard and then the players getting a little anxious, the young kids putting a few balls down.

"That is sport, rugby league is about pressure and at the moment we are under a little bit more than others."

They will be travelling with the under 19s, who will play their French counterparts on the same day, returning straight after the game.

Jordan Turner who suffered concussion will have the checks this week, but has not been ruled out.

"There was a lot of things we were worried about with him on the night because his symptoms were not that crash hot.

"Our medical team went belt and braces because the last thing they wanted to do was make the wrong call and then Jordan Turner can’t walk for the rest of his life.

"Luckily he has come off and everything is fine. He just goes through the concussion protocol.

"If he passes all his tests then hopefully he will play, it will be a slow week for him.

"He is a great player and has contributed greatly in the last couple of weeks," Cunningham said.
