SAINTS welcome back Adam Swift to their 19-man squad for Friday’s First Utility Super League clash with Salford Red Devils at Langtree Park.

Forward Andre Savelio also returns to the side after a spell in the reserves and he has replaced Joe Greenwood.

Saints need to get back on the horse after some terrible results at home.

But Salford will be a tough encounter as the Red Devils have already shown their potency with a 44-10 win against Saints earlier this season.

Coach Keiron Cunningham said: “Salford are a good side and they are playing well wherever they are going.

“They know what their threats are and where they are as a group and play a certain way.

“They play a low error game and just grind wins out. They are a good side to watch and play against.

“It is going to be a real challenge on Friday night, but Friday is about us as a group.

“We know what they have to offer, but it is about us improving as a group in certain areas.”

Cunningham said he was “inconsolable” after the game on Sunday - and accepts that the cup is a major thing for Saints and their fans.

But now the focus goes on Super League, starting on Friday at Langtree Park.

“It is not ideal, but we have the luxury now of being close to being fully fit. We are not playing as well as we should be but we are improving gradually, but we have got to fix up this defensive side. Once we do that we will be a tough team to deal with.”

In terms of the team, Cunningham said on Tuesday that he had hopes Swift would come through this week ok and be ready to play.

“Swifty has got a chance - we have just got to get him through a few things. Ideally if we had a longer week we could train him with the team," he said.
