There were mixed fortunes for Pilkington Crusaders last week. First they faced fellow club team, Centurions, and, in a prolonged match, they emerged victors 17½:16½. They won the toss and batted, posting 11 and held Centurions to 6. Obliged to follow on, Centurions took their score to 16½ and needing 6 to win, Crusaders took 33 balls to reach their target. Full rounders in the match came from Olivia Jolley (2); Chloe Plunkett (2); Meg Lawrenson (3) & Julie Murray for Crusaders and Karen Shaw-bins; Vicky Myers; Donna Jackson; Vicky Mosedale (2) and Carole Foster (4) for Centurions. Final score 17½:16½
Two days later, they took on Wild Cats, won the toss and put the visitors in. They conceded 6½ and, in reply, they were held to 1½ and fared little better in their second innings, scoring 2. There were only three full rounders in the match – one each for Lynn Bradshaw & Lorraine Gabbitas (Wild Cats) and Olivia (Crusaders).
