RECS took one step closer to promotion with a magnificent win at Normanton.

The visitors home ground is named The Graveyard and is infamous for its vocal crowd. Recs soon silenced them as John Rees sent Ian Stanley clear to score his 30th try of the season with barely a minute played.

Danny Lynch slotted the touchline conversion.

Recs defence has been impressive in recent months and that continued as the Knights found it difficult to break down.

The hard work in defence was rewarded when Ryan Hilliard raced on to Mark Ashton inside pass and raced 40 metres, out pacing his opposite number to score in the right corner. Lynch's conversion attempt agonisingly hit the post.

A penalty conversion on the half-hour by Lynch extended Recs lead to 12.

With half time approaching the home side took advantage of a period of pressure, forcing their way over on the right for a converted try.

Normanton started the second half strongly, but Recs defence held firm before Greg Smith intercepted on his own line and raced the length of the field to score beneath the posts. Lynch converted.

Normanton replied with a converted try of their own.

The hooker catching the markers out and darting over from close range.

A Kyran Knapper break gave Recs field position to immediately reply and that came courtesy of Stanley after he caught the blind side defence napping to touch down.

Two further Penalty conversions by Lynch opened up a vital 14 point gap.

With the game approaching the final 10 minutes, the home side made a final push for points and Recs defence buckled after 4 consecutive sets on the line saw Normanton squeeze in the corner for a try.

Recs finally put the game to bed when a thunderous Lynch tackle dislodged the ball and Knapper picked up the scraps to race in at the corner.

The final say of the afternoon went to Rees who magnificently read an attempted chip kick to intercept and race unchallenged the 40 metres to the line. Lynch converted to leave the final score 16-36
