PILKINGTON Recs moved to the summit of the NCL Division 1 table, as they extended their winning run to 11 games.

Recs opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Ryan Hilliard finished off a John Rees break to score beneath the posts. Danny Lynch converted.

Recs continued to pressure the pace the they were playing at was reflected with the sin-bin of a Milford player for persistent slowing of the play-the-ball.

Recs took advantage of the extra man when Ian Stanley scored in the left corner.

The home side, back to full compliment, began to push for a score of their own. And that came after a quick play caught Recs defenders on the back foot allowing the hooker to dive over for a converted try. They were over again shortly after, creating the space out wide for the second-rower to power over from close range to level the scores.

Kyran Knapper had the final say before half time as Recs showed why they are the top attacking side in the division with a well worked move across the width of the field creating enough space for the winger to reach over the line, beating two defenders in the process. Lynch converted.

Milford raised their game in the second period and reduced the deficit to two points early in the half after a sustained spell of pressure was rewarded with a try on the right wing.

With Recs defence holding resolute, the home side became frustrated and as tempers started to flare, both sides had a man sent for 10 minutes rest for punching.

Ian Stanley then put Recs eight points in front after intercepting in his own half to race clear for a converted try.

Recs upped the pressure in defence and Ian Stanley looked to have bagged his hat-trick and 30th try of the season after Recs forced a knock on, only for the referee to judge that there was a second Recs infringement before Stanley touched down.

With Recs looking to wind he clock down, an Andy Webster kick, spectacularly missed touch and gave the home side attacking advantage, but Recs held firm.

The final play of the game saw a Milford player red-carpet for persistent head shots and Greg Smith's attempted penalty conversion just drifted wide to leave the final score 14-22.

Jon Key was the Amdec Man of the Match.
