JON Wilkin produced a captain's knock on a winning return to the Saints fold in Friday night's five-try triumph against newly crowned Challenge Cup winners Leeds Rhinos.
Saints produced a strong physical opening to more than match the Rhinos and scored early on through Tommy Makinson to settle the nerves.
Saints scored further tries through Josh Jones, Luke Walsh, Adam Quinlan with Wilkin adding the icing to the cake with his late touchdown.
The win was cheered by a vocal travelling contingent among the 16,142 crowd at Headingley.
The win came as massive relief more than anything after Saints’ false start in losing their first three matches of the Super 8s.
Saints go into Thursday night's game at Castleford knowing that a win will guarantee their passage through to the knockout stages with two further games to play after that - at home to Wigan and Warrington.
Bernard Platt was there to capture all the action.
