FIFTEEN-year-old Wildcard ABC fighter Liv Hussey returned home from Hungary on Sunday evening after two weeks of intense international boxing duties culminating in the prestigious junior European Championship.
In her first round draw against a vastly more experienced boxer from the host country, judges edged a tight 30-29 decision to the Hungarian fighter.
Obviously upset that she did not get the result she desired, Hussey’s heartbreak soon turned to optimism, not missing any of the remaining competition and gaining all the experience possible from this massive event.
The experience has only fuelled Hussey’s fire to be at the top of her game.
Another Wildcard boxer, 16-year-old Jack Jones, has been selected for the Advanced Apprenticeship In Sporting Excellence with England boxing.
Coaches at the Parr-based club believe that both young boxers are firmly on the path to success.
