SAINTS' one-point win that sees them climb back up to second spot in the Super League was a tale of two Australians.

Adam Quinlan, who flew in from Sydney on Monday to become the team's seventh full back, deserved the headlines for his three first tries which all came from his wonderful support play.

But it was Quinlan's more established compatriot Luke Walsh who won this one with a winning drop goal two minutes from time, It looked as though Saints were about to carry on their off colour display into this one and it to some last ditch efforts to stop it being 12-0 early on.

Saints struck first when Quinlan was first to react to James Roby's grubber, but Giants second row Jack Hughes stretched over to level and the game became something of a cat and mouse affair.

Quinlan's and Saints' second came after Andre Savelio had somehow smuggled the ball out of the tackle after a charge to the line.

But back again came the Giants with Jermaine McGillvary touching down Scott Grix's kick in space on the right.

Yet again Quinlan responded, supporting Roby's dashing break to be up on his shoulder to race over, making it 18-12 at the break.

But they could never shake off the Giants who had come into the game off the back of an impressive run of nine wins from 10.

Leroy Cudjoe forced his way through before Mark Percival replied in kind.

But once again Huddersfield levelled when they appeared to find another weakness on the edge which McGillvary exploited.

Joe Greenwood ran a good hard line for a try, and Saints bucked the 'we score, you score, trend when Percival made it 34-24.

But with 10 to play Eaorl Crabtree bashed his way over and then Aaron Murphy levelled it ensuring a gripping finale.

Danny Brough's poke with a penalty, after Percival's kick off had gone dead on the full, fell short.

Saints frantically defended and then attacked, winning the position for Walsh to chip over the winning drop goal two minutes from time.

Although there were some worrying defensive traits, Saints should be delighted at getting a win on the board after back-to-back league losses.

This win holds off the Giants and lifts Saints back up to second with two to play before the split.
