RECS brushed aside Hull-based visitors Myton Warriors 42-20 to outline their desire to earn promotion to the Premier Division.

They opened the scoring when slick handling by Greg Smith and Ryan Hilliard sent Ian Stanley racing clear with his final pass committing the full-back and leaving Kyran Knapper with the job of sprinting beneath the posts. Danny Lynch converted.

Stanley extended the lead when he powered over from close range. Lynch converted.

Myton responded with a 90 metre interception to score a converted try.

Recs immediately hit back through Jamie Smith, who out muscled three defenders to score a close range try beneath the posts.

Myton regathered the ball at kick-off and were soon over the line for an easy try.

Recs provided their own immediate response with Stanley claiming his second of the afternoon after intercepting on half-way and racing beneath the posts unchallenged.

The Myton kick-offs proved to be a thorn in Recs’ side as they again scored from the restart to give them hope at half-time with the score at 24-14

Man of the match Ryan Hilliard marked his return to action with a sparkling effort, hitting Mark Ashton’s pass at speed to score untouched besides the posts. Lynch converted.

An Andrew Knapper brace mid-way through the half settled the result.

Myton yet again scored after a kick-off was not fielded by Recs, but the converted try was only ever a consolation effort, with Greg Smith having the last say of the afternoon with a penalty conversion.

Recs entertain Hunslet Warriors on Saturday, kick off 1pm.
