SAINTS wing Tommy Makinson has confirmed supporters' worst fears and revealed that Friday's late injury required surgery.
The fleet-footed flank man had enjoyed a fantastic game, scoring two cracking tries and booting six goals, but went down in a seemingly innocuous tackle in the final two minutes.
Today he Tweeted: "Thanks every1 for the messages! Had surgery yesterday to my damaged ankle! All looking ok! Will keep updated."
He later added that he had suffered a small break in his fibula and some ligament damage with an estimated recovery time of 10-16 weeks.
Makinson will be a big loss with some crucial Super League and Challenge Cup games coming up.
In his place Matty Fleming and Matt Dawson are the likely replacements.
Friday was a bad injury night for Saints who also lost James Roby with a dislocated finger. That injury, however, has yet to be confirmed.
