IT WAS all about playing for pride - and paying respects - when LSH hosted Winnington Park, a game won by the visitors 24-19.

With second-placed LSH unable to catch South Lancs/Cheshire Division One leaders Altrincham Kersal and the nearest pursuers, Northwich, unable to catch them, the Moss Laners were already assured of a promotion play-off place.

Following a minute’s silence for former LSH president John Neal and former Liverpool stalwart Ray Lee, LSH took an early lead through a Phil Kearns try, converted by Mark Potter.

Their guests’ first try came from a running move, and seven minutes later they added a short-range converted try from a lineout.

LSH hit back with a try by prop Mark Fryer, coming from a strong drive following a lineout to restore parity at half time.

The referee, exasperated with the high penalty count from Park, sent two to the sin bin in quick succession early in the second half.

Park were spurred though and, when an LSH error gave them possession, they took the lead with a try.

Another when they returned to full strength.

LSH scored their third and final try with five minutes to go through Mario Bonati, converted by Potter.

They host Manchester this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
