SAINTS playmaker Travis Burns is a doubt for Good Friday’s trip to Wigan after sustaining a facial injury at Hull KR.
The Australian stand-off was flattened with a late tackle from Hull KR prop James Green in the second minute – a challenge that has seen the Rovers player subsequently charged.
He played on despite the club doctor taking a close look at his cheekbone after the tackle.
Coach Keiron Cunningham said: “He will have x-rays and scans and will see the surgeon this evening.
“There may be a crack there of some sort.”
James Roby, who left the field with concussion at Hull KR, will have his head test on Wednesday or Thursday.
“The protocol is going well up to now so there is a good chance he might play,” Cunningham said.
Unfortunately it is not good news on in-form second rower Atelea Vea who went down with a shoulder injury late in the game at Hull KR.
“There is a good chance he may not be around for a few weeks.
“Both back rowers were going really well – then to lose one one week (Joe Greenwood) and then the other a week later is disheartening.
“Luckily we have some depth there, but I am not sure how many more edges we can take,” Cunningham said.
He was hopeful on Paul Wellens returning for the Wigan game.
