The long distance bug seems to have got into St Helens Sutton A.C.’s senior runners with the half-marathon being the shortest distance tackled over the weekend.

Running in the 13 plus mile event at Wilmslow, Gemma Connolly had the club’s best individual performance of the weekend, in a race she was tackling in preparation for the Manchester Marathon, finishing fifth lady in 1 hr.20 min.41 secs.

In the same event, veteran (M50yrs.) Maurice Collins ran 1 hr.33 min.09 secs.

Four ladies and one man tackled the Trimpell 20 mile road race run through the historic streets of Lancaster and the Lancashire Lune Valley countryside.

First for the club was Sonya Monaghan in 2 hrs.42 min.32 secs, Kevin Cunningham also broke 3 hours with his time of 2 hrs.55 min.43 secs.. Dorothy Fairhurst, an over 70 veteran, ran 3 hrs.41 min.38 secs. and Gemma Aden 3 hrs.50 min.37 secs..
