RECS made the short trip to Wigan in confident mood following strong victories in previous weeks.

The loss of full-back Andrew Knapper following a car accident during the journey to Ince, interrupted their preparation, however Recs performance on the day was ultimately not good enough to defeat a determined opposition.

Recs started brightly, and looked to have opened the scoring only for Ian Stanley to lose the ball with the line at his mercy. Ince responded with a length of the field try following a break down the left.

Two quick fire tries followed for the home side. The first a carbon copy of their opening try, then a well worked inside play saw them open up a 16 point advantage.

With only minutes remaining of the half, Recs opened their account courtesy of centre Danny Halsall who powered over on the right.

Ince began the second half strongly, and were awarded a penalty for back chat which they gratefully converted to open up a three score gap, they weren't finished there however, and another smart link up on the left opened up space for their second rower to race forward before chipping ahead for the supporting player to win race to touch down beneath the posts for a converted try.

With the clock ticking down, Recs began to push forward. Halsall scored his second of the afternoon before Liam Bostock continued his scoring form and Andy Nisbet scored his first try for the Open Age after collecting his own chip ahead. Danny Lynch converted 2 to set up a grandstand finish with a minute remaining. However, Recs fumbled the ball from the restart summing up a poor afternoon all round.

Liam Bostock was the Amdec Man of the Match with Jono Peers collecting the Bold Tyre Centre award.
