SAINTS will be without Joe Greenwood for Friday's trip to Hull KR - but the club are confident that the injury will not be a long term one.

The in-form second rower came off after popping his elbow midway through the second half of Thursday's win over Warrington and the first look appeared bad.

Although there were initial fears from the stand that the arm was broken or a bad dislocation, it appears that the injury is not as bad as first feared with a one-to-two week absence expected.

Coach Keiron Cunningham said: "It could have been worse, it could have been season ending for him.

"It was quite a bad bump on his arm – a specialist will see him after his scan this week.

"Although he has popped his elbow his structures are good.

"I could tell with the look on Joe's face that he was a bit concerned and I was a little bit concerned for him too.

"He has been in such good form that he deserved better than to end his season at round six and I am pleased that he is ok."

Mark Flanagan returns after recovering from the surgery on the eye he damaged at Wakefield.

There is no such swift report back for Jonny Lomax who damaged his knee in that same game and a second opinion is still being sought.

"It is not looking like it will be great news but we are just trying to make sure we do the right thing by Jonny and the club," Cunningham said.

"We wish it was as clear cut as Percy’s but we are waiting on the views of someone else before making a decision. I am sure we will have some definitive answers with where we are going within a fortnight."
