SAINTS had to dig deep and overcome plenty of adversity to keep their winning Super League run going at Wakefield.
They won 20-16 after trailing 12-6 at the break with tries coming from Paul Wellens, Joe Greenwood and Jordan Turner.
In an awful six minute spell Saints lost Mark Percival with a knee injury, Jonny Lomax, leg, and Luke Thompson with a head knock.
But they recovered and eventually won the arm wrestle in the middle to secure a crucial two points.
Bernard Platt captured the action.
1. Former skipper Paul Wellens marked his return to the first team byscoring a try from the stand off position.
2. Saints lost Jonny Lomax with a leg injury after appearing to land heavily after collecting a high ball.
3. Tommy Makinson adapted to his changed role well and had a fine overall game.
4. Luke Thompson caught the effects of a big Mose Masoe tackle shortly after enering the fray.
5....And Big Mose was hardly unscathed either!
6. Coaching team of Sean Long and Keiron Cunningham had plenty to ponder at the break, with Saints trailing.
7. A charge downfield from Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook was finished off in the next play with the ball teed up for Joe Greenwood.
8. Joe Greenwood stands up for himself against the Wakefield pack.
9. Mark Flanagan suffered a serious eye injury during the course of the game - but stayed on the field as a result of Saints' earlier casualties.
10. Jordan Turner finishes off from Jon Wilkin's high bomb to effectively secure the winning try.
