Saturday saw St Helens Sutton AC attending the final Manchester Area Cross Country League held at Wythenshawe Park. There were 19 athletes representing the club.

First of all, for the under 11 girls Abigail McHugh covered the distance of 2000m in 17th place in 9.08, she was shortly followed by Amber Escoffery who completed the race in 24th place in 9.18.

Also Lucy Bridge finished the race in 25th place in 9.20 whilst Hollie Brussels finished in 40th place in 10.13. The girls finished 6th overall.

Next was the under 11 boys and under 13 girls 2350m race. Ben Toole led the boys home in 18th place in 10.16 and Arron Leach finished 24th in a time of 10.42.

Matthew Dodd brought the team home in 30th place in 11.45 meaning that the team finished 6th too. Lucy Price was also competing in this race; she finished in 42nd position in 10.52.

The under 13 boys and under 15 girls covered the distance of 3050m, Michael Brussels completed the race in 21st place in 12.37, Matthew Slevin finished 23rd in 12.40 whilst Liam Houghton finished in 25th place in 12.43 and James Carberry finished 32nd in 15.49. The under 13 boys finished in 6th place. Samantha Price completed the race in 20th position in a time of 13.14.

For the senior ladies, Gemma Connolly completed the 7150m course in 4th place in a time of 30.44 whereas Rachel McGoldrick finished 27th in 33.10 and Maria McGoldrick finished in 56th place in 35.41.

Finally the senior men's 9150m race saw John Greenall finished 63rd in a time of 34.20, Barry Graney finished in 116th in 36.32 and Andy O'Connor completed the race in 191st place in 39.48.

Meanwhile, Mark Liptrot took part in the Anglezarke Amble. He was delighted with a 10 minute improvement on his previous time and completed the 24 mile course in 3 hours 45 minutes. The course takes in Rivington, Anglezarke and Turton Moors.
