ST HELENS Sutton A.C. entered teams in all the age groups at the North West Road relays which were held at Woodbank Park, Stockport.

For the U13 girls, Ashlea Sprott finished the 2600 metre course in 10 minutes, 17 seconds – giving the club a good start of third place.

Alyx Bridge moved up a place with a 10 min, 49 secs run and Lucy Price held on with her 10 min, 55 secs run for the girls to finish second for Merseyside.

The U13 boys ran the same 2600m course, Matthew Slevin ran the first leg in the team’s fastest time of 9 min, 43 secs (14th), he handed over to Michael Brussels who ran 10 min, 12 secs (17th) and then Nathan Worrall who ran 10 min, 31 secs.

The team finished second in Merseyside and 17th overall. James Carberry and Liam Houghton both competed for the first time in the B team, running a fine 9 min, 55 secs and 12 min, 22 secs.

The U15s girls ran with the U17s women over the same 2600m distance. For the U15s girls, Samantha Price led the team off with 10 min, 53 secs (25th) before Emily Ashton’s 11min, 19 secs run moved the team up four places. Kanyarat Avison then ran 11 min, 51 secs for the girls to finish 22nd but third in Merseyside.

In the B team, Ellie Mawdsley ran 12 min.54 secs. and Natalie Tait 12 min.08 secs. The U15yrs. boys also ran the 2600m course.

Anthony Walker led the team off and finished in 9 min.10 secs. (23rd.), he handed over to Jack Worrall (10 min.39 sec.) and Sam Thomson brought the boys home in 9 min.25 secs.

The boys just missed out on a medal finishing 4th for Merseyside.

The U17yrs. men and senior women covered the distance of 3600m. For the U17yrs. men, Adam Woosey was on the first leg and brought the team back in 12 min.39 secs. for 11th.

Sam Miley ran 14 min.31 secs and Jonathan Causer brought the team home with 13 min.49 secs. for the team to finish 3rd for Merseyside.

The club had two teams within the senior women’s race, a Merseyside team and a Cheshire team. Rachel McGoldrick led off the Cheshire team with a 15 min.26 secs. run for 5th in Cheshire.

Both Maria and Helena McGoldrick held this spot with their runs of 16 min.48 secs. and 18 min.36 secs. for the team to finished third A team. Rachel Wilcock led off the Merseyside team with 16 min.44 secs. (7th.), Carolyn Joyce ran 18 min.42 secs. and Rachel Beesley 18 min.32 secs. for the team to finish 6th for Merseyside. The senior men saw Tom Griffiths run the club’s fastest time with his 11 min.41 secs. run (10th), Jamie White ran 12 min.24 secs, Ian Costello 12 min.53 secs. and John Greenall 14 min.02 secs. for the team to finish 6th A team for Merseyside. Also there was an incomplete team of Barry Graney (13 min.26 secs.), Wayne Joyce (30 min.11 secs.) and Ian Hayburn.
