SAINTS said last night that scrum half Luke Walsh remained in hospital following the horrific lower leg injury he suffered in the victory over Widnes on Friday night.
The Australian playmaker is set to be ruled out of the remainder of the campaign but the extent of the lay off he faces will be assessed by specialists.
Saints added on Saturday night that Walsh - who was carried from the field on a stretcher in agony after suffering the injury attempting to make a tackle in the second half - was “as comfortable as he possibly can be in hospital”.
Concerned supporters have been contacting the club via social media asking for updates but Saints will wait until going into further detail about his prognosis.
Both fans and players - including Josh Jones, Kyle Amor and Tommy Makinson - have turned to Twitter and Facebook to send Walsh, who has orchestrated the Saints attack since joining from Penrith Panthers, messages of support.
Speaking about Walsh’s injury after the game, Brown said: “That is the nature of the game. He did it making a tackle and it is either a compound leg fracture or a dislocated ankle.
“It was pointing the wrong way but we won’t know until he gets to hospital.”
