SAINTS coach Nathan Brown has been fined £1,000 after being found guilty of misconduct for comments about match referee Phil Bentham made following the First Utility Super League win over Wigan Warriors.

He was deemed to be in breach of Operational Rule D1.8 (c) by engaging in conduct which is prejudicial to the interests of the game; Operational Rule D1.10 (i) by criticising the character of a match official or criticising the manner in which a match officials has officiated at a game in which the club has taken part; and the RFL Respect Policy.

Brown has also been issued with a warning as to his future behaviour. £500 of the fine is suspended until the end of the 2015 season.

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has also been fined £500 after being found guilty of misconduct for comments made about video referee Ben Thaler and comments made to the Match Commissioner following the First Utility Super League fixture against St Helens on June 27, 2014.

Wane was deemed to be in breach of Operational Rule D1.8 (c) by engaging in conduct which is prejudicial to the interests of the game; Operational Rule D1.10 (i) by criticising the character of a match official or criticising the manner in which a match officials has officiated at a game in which the club has taken part; and the RFL Respect Policy.

Wane has also been issued with a warning as to his future behaviour. £250 of the fine is suspended until the end of the 2015 season.

Wane has 14 days in which to appeal the decision at an Operational Rules Tribunal.
