BROOK were given a mighty scare as seventh placed Hindley came within a whisker of claiming a surprise victory at Boardmans Lane.
It all started brightly enough for Brook when Joe Bate went over for the opener.
After conceding, Brook regained the six point lead direct from the re-start Sean Richardson chased the high kick off which landed between the Hindley defenders he timed his run perfectly and collected the ball to race away and score.
Midway through the half the visitors levelled the score. Six minutes before the interval Dave French, on his debut, spotted a gap in defensive line to dive under sticks to score.
Brook seemed to take control of the game when Sam Long ran a great line to take a pass from Danny Fairhurst to score early in the second period.
Hindley hit back however with two tries in five minutes mid way though the half Brook again regained possession from the restart and Craig Lyon came on the angle to take Fairhurst’s pass and crash over for the winning score.
Stephen Marsh was selected as The Tisdalls Man of the Match with Callum Welsby taking the players NL Commercials Man of the Match. More sport online: sthelensstar.co.uk
