St Helens Strider Kev Brennan achieved three personal bests in 5 days last week.

The first came in the annual Birkenhead Park 5 mile race on Wednesday where he ran an impressive 29.08.

Not content with that, Brennan went on to run a PB at the Halewood 5K on Saturday where he finished in 5th with a time of 17.26.

The next day he went on to top a great week at the BTR Tunnel 10k running another impressive PB of 36.51.

Joining Brennan at Halewood were fellow Striders Peter Fairclough, 18.42 PB, Paul Demore, 19.08, Rachael Fishwick, 20.06, Scott Robertson, 20.26, Chris Falls, 20.27, John Smee, 20.48, Julie Pennington, 21.29, Martin Farrar, 22.33, Gary Ward, 23.30, Cheryl Orrick, 23.56 PB, Rebecca McKenna 24.00 PB.

On Saturday Gary Spriggs, Simon Poole, Ruth Besford and Anita Hall ran the 33 mile Sandstone Trail Challenge in what proved to be more than challenging conditions.

The route takes runners from Whitchurch in Shropshire to Frodsham Community Centre, Cheshire.

The weather really was against them and completing the course was an outstanding achievement in itself.

Simon Poole came home in 7 hours 44 minutes claiming a very credible 57th place.

The other three completed the course in 11 hours, 29 minutes.

The annual BTR Tunnel Run in Liverpool was held on Sunday 8th June. The course takes runners from Liverpool City Centre through the Queensway Tunnel to finish in New Brighton. Mike Dodd finished in 43.35, Rebecca McKenna 52.17, Deb Hill, 1.05.59, Anthony Jones, 1.12.32, Cathy Bennet, 1.16.49 and Ann Atkinson, 1.16.50.

Striders Claire Murphy and Mike Brunt both entered the Chester olympic distance triathlon on Sunday. With strong currents in the river Dee for the open water swim it proved to be a tough start to the event. Claire finished in an impressive 2 hours 43 minutes with Mike wrapping it up in 3 hours 12 minutes. You can follow the progress of the club and its runners on Twitter @sthelensstriders
