PHIL Robinson, St Helens Sutton A.C.’s veteran multi-eventer took part in this year’s England Men’s Senior Decathlon Championships held at Bedford and must have been pleased to have finished in the top half of a strong field.

On Day 1 he competed in the 100m. (13.49secs.), long jump (5.19m.), shot putt (9.35m.), high jump (1.48m.) and the 400m. (61.01secs.).

Day 2 started with the 110m. hurdles (24.64secs.) followed by the discus (24.98m.), the pole vault where he unfortunately failed to register a clearance, javelin (35.85m.) and completed the gruelling schedule with the 1500m. (5 min.27.86 secs.).

A dozen of the club’s senior junior athletes travelled to Warrington for the 2nd Youth Development League match.

Twelve personal bests were achieved, some seasonal bests and there was also 1 club record which Jessica Leonard set in her 300m. win in 42.3secs.

Individual winners in the Under 20yrs. men were Tom McKeever in the javelin (48.53m.), Taylor Cayton-Hand, long jump (6.60m.) and triple jump (13.28m.).

Taylor also finished second in the high jump (1.65m.) with Michael Causer second in the shot with 10.74m.

Winners for the U17yrs. Men were Adam Woosey in the 800m. (2 min.10.2 secs.), Jonathon Causer, discus 30.81m. and shot 10.58m., and Lachlan Fisher, long jump 4.65m.

Georg Asson took third in the 100m., 11.5 secs. and the 200m. 24.0 secs. and the In the relays, the under 17 men finished in 2nd in the 4x100m and also 1st in the 4x400m.

For the U20s. Ladies, Maria McGoldrick won the 400m. (69.1 secs.). For the U17s Ladies, Jessica Leonard the 200m. (26.6 secs.) and 300m. and Maddie Williams the 1500m. (5 min.32.9 secs.).

In the relays the U17yrs. Men’s team of George Asson, Lachlain Fisher, Matthew Lamb and Adam Woosey won the 4x100m. in 48.0 secs. and the same team with Jonathon Causer replacing Matthew won the 4x400m. in 3 min.54.9 secs.

The U20yrs. Ladies also won their 4x400m relay in 4 min.24.1 secs..Overall the club finished 3rd..

The following day, 34 athletes travelled to Bolton for the 2nd Youth Development League (lower) including 5 athletes who competed on the track for the first time, well done Jack Worrall, Nathan Worrall, Samantha Price, Alex Bridge and Blythe Carter Jones.

On a whole, the club achieved 33 personal bests; an achievement within itself. P.B.s for the U13yrs boys were achieved by Jack Lowry, 800m. 2 min.51.7 secs & javelin 15.18m., Matthew Slevin, shot 5.07m. and Michael Brussels, 1500m. 5 min.58.3 secs.

The relay team consisted of Alex Moore, Nathan Worrall, Charlie Roberts and Jack Lowry and finished 3rd. In the U15yrs boys there were P.B.s for Daniel Dobson, 100m. 13.6 secs. and 200m. 28.4 secs., Anthony Walker, 300m. 51.1 secs., 800m. 2 min.49.0 secs and  javelin 13.10m., Peter Davies, 300m. 47.0 secs., Jack Worrall 1500m. 5 min.58.5 secs. and javelin 13.81m. and Joseph Woods, discus 14.0m.

The 4x100m relay team of Daniel Lamb, Daniel Dobson, Christopher Lamb and Peter Davies finished 2nd. and the 4x300m relay team of Anthony Walker, Peter Davies, Jack Worrall and Joseph Woods finished 4th.

Personal Bests achieved by the U13yrs. girls were Rebecca Brown, 75m. 11.0 secs. & shot 5.86m., Codi Wills, 150m. 23.9 secs. and shot 5.24m., Rebecca Houghton, 150m. 22.7 secs. and long jump 3.26m. and Jessica Durrance, 800m. The relay team of Rebecca Houghton, Rebecca Brown, Codi Wills and Lucy Price finished 3rd.

In the U15yrs. girls there were P.Bs for Caitlin Young, 200m. 28.1 secs, Samantha Price, 800m. 2 min.49.4 secs,Natalie Tait, 800m. 3 min.10.0 secs, Emily Smith Javelin 25.23m, Jorden Pilkington, 75m. hurdles 13.3 secs., discus 14.44m. & shot 7.52m. and Emma Fairclough, discus 13.15m.

The 4x100m relay team, Lauren Marshall, Caitlin Young, Erin Makin and Zoe Pye were winners as were the 4x300m team of Abbie Roberts, Ellie Mawdsley, Samantha Price and Emma Fairclough.
