RAINFORD recorded their second successive win in the Med Imaging Liverpool Competition with a convincing six wicket victory over Ainsdale.

After electing to bat the visitors were immediately destroyed in Oliver Jump’s first over with the young paceman dismissing Andy Barlow and Zaid Mohammed without a score on the board.

They never really recovered as Jump went on to bag another whilst John Dotters worked away at the other end to be rewarded with 5 for 22 in a 10 over spell as Ainsdale were dismissed for 84.

The Rainford reply was led by Matt Bailey (34) and Paul Farrar (45 not out) as despite a few late scares they easily reached 85 for 4 to claim the win.

Ranford seconds were involved in an astonishing game at Ainsdale where the hosts posted an imposing 256 for 2 declared, Sam Lucas hitting 150 not out.

The twos chased down the target to win by five wickets led by a maiden senior century from Steven Cline with 102. The race to the total was significantly helped by contributions from Ollie Lawrenson (51), Mark Brook (31), Justin Dalrymple (28) and Matt Campbell (20 not out).

On Sunday the 3rd X1 lost by nine wickets at Rainhill.

Ainsdale’s Zaid Mohammed being bowled by Ollie Jump to make it 0 for 2.
