IN Saturday’s changeable weather conditions, Peter Alton from St Helens and his passenger Keith Brotherton were racing their Yamaha Baker F2 Sidecar in races at Oulton Park’s NG Road Racing Championship.
This was their first race of the season and their immediate objective was to prepare for the Isle of Man TT at the end of May (they finished fifteenth out of sixty four entries last year).
Because of the class rules for their particular sidecar unit, they were up against sidecars with bigger and more powerful engines but they knew who they needed to beat to know they were in good form.
In the first race, starting from fifth out of fifteen, they held their own to finish the race in fifth, a result they were happy with.
The second race was a repeat of the first until they gained a valuable place early on to finish in fourth place.
