A THREE try burst in the opening 15 minutes set the St Helens amateurs on their way to a comfortable victory over their Hull visitors in the second round of the Tetley's Challenge Cup.

With Barla half back Danny Lynch orchestrating play, the home side swiftly seized control and crossed in the third minute on the left flank through centre Ian Stanley.

In the seventh minute second row Mark Briody ploughed through some flimsy defence to touch down.

And then young full back Kyran Knapper went on a weaving run before offloading to the supporting Greg Smith who walked in for the next try.

Lynch converted all three scores and the Warriors were 18-0 down without being able to get a foothold in the contest.

They stemmed the tide until the 29th minute when substitute Liam Bostock spotted space around the play the ball and scampered over the line.

Another Lynch conversion followed, leaving the score 24-0 at half time.

Five minutes into the half, Lynch was in the thick of the action again, this time picking off an interception and running 40metres to the corner to make it 28-0.

Although the margin was comfortable, Recs did not drop their defensive intensity, which will have pleased coach Kurt Haggerty, the Leigh forward, who will now wait a third round cup draw that potentially could see the team he coaches paired with his employers.

The home side added to their tally in the 68th minute when Ste Charlson forces his way over from close range.

It was left to the returning John Rees to leave his mark, with the veteran using his strength to hold off two defenders and touch down.
