A PURPLE patch of three tries in nine minutes mid way through the first half has given Saints a 20-4 half time lead at Warrington.

It has been a feisty game so far, with Saints getting stuck in and defending their line under some significant pressure.

Saints rallied from an early deficit, after Wolves had taken a 4-0 lead courtesy of a Joel Monaghan try in the corner after two minutes.

But Saints got back in the game on 13 minutes when Tommy Makinson collected a miracle ball out of the tackle from Jordan Turner to touch down.

Luke Walsh slotted the conversion from the touchline and also improved the next two touchdowns.

The next of those came courtesy of the dancing feet of born again six Gary Wheeler who took on the line before popping up for James Roby to straighten on to and score.

Senior Saints debutant Kyle Amor bashed his way over for the third shortly afterwards.

Wolves have not rolled over, but Saints have taken their chances well.
