The home side started brightly enough and went ahead after only 10 minutes with a penalty converted by winger Hunt.

But the visitors eventually got into their stride, and despite some valiant efforts by West Park soon showed why they are near the top of the league. Their forwards in particular proved too strong as a unit , starving the home side of possession and allowing their backs to mount several attacks which eventually resulted in four tries to take them up to 3rd place in the league.

West Park gave as good as they got in the first half, with Northwich only leading by 10 pts to 3 pts at half time, having converted a penalty and scored a somewhat fortuitous try after a missed interception gave them an overlap for their winger to score, a try which was neatly converted .

A heavy pitch, the general inclement weather, and some less than satisfactory control by the official, gave the home side little opportunity to play their normal expansive running game, and the visitors wealth of possession saw them score a further three tries in the second half , all of which were converted, the last one scored just before the final whistle earning them a valuable bonus point.

Undoubtedly Nothwich were the better side and fully deserved their win , in particular their back row and their Australian contingent having a strong influence on the result.

West Park have no game next week, and will undoubtedly re-group and look forward to the next fixture ,the local derby at Ruskin Park on 8th Feb.
