GARSWOOD United moved up into pole position in the Cheshire Football League table as they won 3-0 at home against Gamesley to go two points clear at the top, while second place Barnton leap-frogged Crewe into second beating them 4-1 at home.

Colin Quirk gave Barnton the lead after three minutes, which was doubled twelve minutes later by Leon Williams to give the home side a 2-0 advantage at the break.

Williams added his second shortly after the restart with Jeff King adding the fourth goal in the 90th minute.

After a goal-less first half Billinge took control of their fixture against Middlewich Town to finish 4-2 winners. Chad Whyte, Steve Edwards, Tim Lees and Joe Unsworth all hit home in the second half to secure victory for the home side.

Rylands recovered from a two goal deficit to beat Pilkington 3-2 away from home.

A long range drive from Thompson forced the first save from the Rylands keeper and Hughes headed wide after a corner kick had failed to be cleared.

Little had been seen of the visitors but after 12 minutes James Daniels raced clear of the home defence only to pull his angled effort wide of the goal.
