St. Helens Striders had a brilliant weekend over the 7th and 8th December. First up was the last of this years merseyvend 5km, hosted by Knowsley harriers.

Paul Demore was first strider to finish in a new course PB of 18:12. He was chased in by Chris Falls in 20:06, also a new PB. Rachael Fishwick was next in 20:38, followed in by Tony horsfall in 21:02. Martin Farrar finished in a new PB of 22:40, rounded up by Mike brunt in 29:55. This 5km marked the last of this years series- with strider ladies scooping first prize overall, and strider men taking 5th place- well done Striders!!

Later that afternoon Striders represented the town well in match three of the Manchester area Cross Country league at Sherdley Park, hosted by St. Helens Sutton.

The ladies A team consisted of Claire Murphy, Rachael Fishwick, April Morgan and Julie Pennington raced well to finish in 7th place overall.

The ladies b team consisting of Joanne Jackson, Katie Taggert, Louise Read, Becky McKenna and Charley ward placed 22nd. The mens team contained Kevin Brennan, Paul Demore, Kevin Monaghan, Chris falls, Brian Middleton John Smee and Simon Poole placed 25th.

On Sunday 8th, several Striders took part in the Tatton Park Yule romp 10km. Paddy lee finished in 49:47, followed by Roger haslett 51:48. Gill Lee was next in 53:08 with Cheryl Orrick in 55:54.

Andi hill jones finished in 1:00:33 complete by Debbie hill in 1:08:27 Meanwhile, Julie Pennington took part in the Manchester Christmas Pud 5 miler finishing as First Lady in 36:48.
