LSH 0 Broughton Park 47.

LSH were demolished by Broughton Park in this rearranged North One West encounter played on a Thursday night under floodlights.

LSH’s performance was in stark contrast to the spirited display up at Vale of Lune just five days earlier and opened the door for a Broughton Park side without an away win this season. The Manchester side did not need asking twice to produce a dazzling display of speedy counter attacking and free running to register seven tries on the night.

A scoreless first 25 minutes gave no indication of the carnage that was to come with both sides evenly contesting the set pieces and LSH creating the greater number of chances.

However, sustained pressure from the visitors took them close to the LSH line and a quick tap penalty saw number 8 Mark McConnell crash over the line for the first try after 27 minutes, converted by Jordan Parker.

The second try came from a quickly taken lineout on the right leading to a try for winger Blake Mahovic on the left, again converted by Parker for a 0-14 halftime score.

LSH took the game to Park in the opening fifteen minutes of the second half but a series of handling errors and poor decision-making saw nothing come of it.

The visitors went further ahead in the 55th minute with a converted try from Parker after a kick and chase and then effectively sealed the game seconds later when a poor restart was run straight back over the LSH line for a try for flanker Patrick O’Donnell.

A rampant Park ran in three more tries before referee Matt Riley, having an excellent game despite performing in front of a veritable Who’s Who of the North West’s refereeing fraternity, ended LSH’s misery with the final whistle.

The scores, all converted by Jordan, came from O’Donnell, prop Donald George and winger Ben Robinson in the 79th minute.

LSH travel to Wigton. Kick off 2.15.
