Winter rugby league is alive and well as these two old foes put produced a superb display of Amateur Rugby in dreadful conditions on Friday Night.
Pilks took the lead after just 5 minutes when Winger Adam Jones intercepted what could have been a try creating pass from Brooks Danny Parkes. The speedy winger raced the length of the field to score in the corner with BARLA International Scrum Half Danny Lynch adding a brilliant touch line conversion.
The visitors deservedly increased their lead mid way through the half when centre Rob Marsh found the space to go to score for an unconverted try wide out on the right.
Brook refused lie down and hit back with a try of their own on the half hour mark following good work from Jordan Case Hooker Jimmy Brown made the break towards the visitors try line he found Andy Rawsthorne in support and he crossed the try line with Jordan Welsby converting.
The home side drew level on the stroke of half time when on the last tackle Chris Springford put a delicate grubber kick into the corner. It was Brooks Winger Scott Lyon who reacted the quickest as he touched down for an unconverted try.
Pilks regained the lead ten minutes into the second period Danny Lynch put a high kicked into the corner the ball was collected by Chris Smith and he had enough strength to wriggle out of the tackle to touch down for an unconverted try in the corner.
The Glassmen had chances to increase their lead however Brooks defence was on top form to prevent any further scores.
The home side hit the lead for the first time with 15 minutes left on the clock following a series of attacks Jimmy Brown put in a high kick towards the visitors try line and it was Jordy Welsby who emerged with the ball and scored a well taken try in heavy traffic. Welsby added the goal to edge his side ahead.
With less 10 remaining Brook struck the killer blow when Jimmy Brown broke clear from acting half back to race away and score by the posts. Welsby slotted over the easy conversion to increase the lead by a decisive 8 points.
Pilks refused to concede defeat and piled pressure on Brooks try line in the closing however the home side hung on for the victory.
Jordan Case was selected as the Unite Union Man of the Match for Brook with Danny Lynch picking the visitors accolade.
