Nineteen members of St Helens Sutton A.C. travelled to Blackpool’s Stanley Park for the Northern Counties Road Relay Championships. Joe Houghton ran the first leg for the Under 13years Boys team and produced the team's fastest time with his run of 11 min.50 secs. for 18th pace.

Joe Houghton took over and moved up one place with his run of 12 min.9 secs. and Reece Ellis brought the team home in 16th place, running 13 min.23 secs.

For the girls, Lucy Price took the first leg running a fast 14 min.15 secs., Sean Glynn took over and ran 17 min.50 secs. and Bethany Haughey ran 16 min.18 secs. moving up 3 places for the team to finish 26th.

In the U15yrs. Girls, Emily Ashton managed to finish in 19 min.18 sec despite suffering an injury, Eleanor Mawdsley moved up three places running 15 min.38 secs a time just beaten by Alex Glynn with 15 min.27 secs. gaining 3 more places for a 26th placing.

Adam Woosey led the boys team with the fast time of 10 min.47 secs, Connor Whalley ran 12 min.37 secs. and Karl Lyon 12 min.43 secs. and the team finished 24th. Rachel McGoldrick took first leg for the U17yrs. Ladies team running the team’s fastest time of 14 min.45 secs., Maddie Williams gained two places with her 15 min.4 secs. and Maria McGoldrick brought the team home in 17th place with her run of 16 min.27 secs..

With the help of runners not normally considered to be middle distance runners the club managed to turn out a senior men’s team.

Barry Graney had the honour of taking the first leg and rewarded the trust put in him by recording the club’s fastest time of 23 min.55 secs.. Although running 7 seconds slower than Barry, Ian Costello managed to move the team up three places but these were lost again, plus one, when Ian Hayburn ran 25 min.11 secs.

The team dropped back a further five places as Simon Anim-Somuah ran 27 min.3 secs. and two more places as Alan McNally ran 27 min.33 secs.

All-rounder Phil Robinson rounded the team of and regained two places as he ran the club’s last leg in 27 min.21 secs..
