Taylor takes fifth place in English Championships

IN the England Athletics Under 17years Men’s Championships held at Bedford International Stadium Taylor Caton Hand cleared 6.44metres in the long jump for fifth placing.
The club’s long-serving decathlete, Phil Robinson, recently competed in a double decathlon consisting of 20 disciplines over two days, 100m, long jump, 200m hurdles, shot putt, 5,000m, 800m, high jump, 400m, hammer, 3,000m. steeplechase, 110m hurdles, pole vault, 200m, discus, 3000m, 400m. hurdles, javelin, 1500m, triple jump and 10,000m.
Phil finished in the top ten in his group (9th V40) and although not normally known for his love of long distance he will have enjoyed completing what works out to be more than a half marathon in laps of the track.
Thirty four St Helens Sutton A.C. athletes competed in the last Cheshire league meeting of the season at Ellesmere Port where 30 personal bests were achieved. For the Under 11 years girls, Katie Lang competed in the 75m finishing in 12.8secs, Ellie Doyle ran the 75m finishing in 12.1secs. (PB), ran the 600m in 2min.6.4secs and threw a PB in the soft javelin.
Lucy Strettle competed for the first time in the 75m running 13.0secs, Elizabeth Greenalgh ran the 75m in 12.4secs (PB) 75m, the 600m (2 min.19.6, (PB) and the long jump. Hollie Brussels ran the 600m in 2 min.20.8 secs. (PB) and threw the soft javelin.
For the U11s Boys, Michael Brussels ran 12.8secs for the 75m and 2 min.3.08 for the 600m and also competed in the long jump. Charlie Roberts ran well in the 75m to finish in 11.6secs, won his 600m with 1 min.48.0 and long jumped.
Jack Woolland ran the 75m (11.9s) and the 600m 2 min.16.6 s).
Joseph Matthews ran a 14.2secs 75m, a 2 min.18.4 600m and threw the javelin. Dylan O'Brien threw the soft javelin, ran 75m in 12.4secs and a PB in the 600m.
Cal Hunter ran for the first time in the 75m (11.6secs) and 600m (2 min.9s.).
The U13s Girls saw Jorden Pilkington run 30.5secs in the 200m, clear 1.20m in the high jump and putt the shot 6.98m.(PB).
Lauren Marshall ran a 29.3s 200m, Hana Brew, another first-timer ran 200m in 33.5s. Mia Langton ran a PB in the 200m (30.0secs.) Natalie Tate achieved a PB of 2 min.10.9 in the 800m.

For the Boys, Peter Davies ran 15.8secs. in the 100m, long jumped and threw the javelin and achieved a PB. Jordon Benson ran the 100m in 14.7secs.,. Daniel Dobson ran the 1500m. getting a PB of 5 min.28.4 secs. and long jumped. Joe Houghton ran strongly in the 1500m. to record 5 min.22.0 secs.
In the U15s groups, Caitlin Young ran 29.8secs. (PB) in the 200m. and long jumped, Megan Lang competed in the same events, running 200m, in 30.3s. (PB). Erin Makin ran a 29.6s. 200m and Zoe Pye 29.7secs.
The relay team being Caitlin, Erin, Megan and Hana. Among the Boys, Joseph Woods ran a 17.6s 100m and putt the shot 4.63m (PB), Matthew Lamb ran a 11.8secs 100m (PB), ran 2 min33 in the 800m, in the high jump and the shot (a 7m+PB).
Christopher Lamb ran the 100m. in 12.9secs. and 800m in 2 min.29.6 secs., high jumped and had a 9m+ PB in the shot. James Mackell ran a winning 2 min.27.4 secs. PB in the 800m.. Connor Whalley got a PB in his 800m. (2 min.48.6 secs.) Matthew Seabrook debuted in the shot with 4.51m.. The relay team consisted of Christopher, Matthew, Joseph and James.
Six older athletes also competed. U17yra Man, Taylor Caton Hand ran a 11.6secs. 100m and won the long jump with 6.33m.. Jonathan Causer threw the discus and also competed in the 1500m. and knocked 30 seconds off his PB with 5 min.6 secs.run.
Senior Ladies Emma Fairclough (1.40m.) and Hannah Seabrook (2nd.) competed in the high jump. Senior Men, Ian Costello ran the 1500m. in 4 min.35.1 secs. and Tony Raffle ran the 3000m in 14 min. 12 secs.
