MINERS continued their climb up the table with a bruising encounter down at Fleet Lane.
Bold started well with Higgins and Johnson smashing holes in the Heysham defence.
Kelvin Walkden evaded several defenders on a great 60 metre run only to be caught 15 metres out, but from the resulting play good hands from Scott and Anders put wingman Leyland in at the corner for his first.
Heysham went the length of the field, helped by poor discipline by Bold, and crashed over under the posts to level.
Higgins was in top form and breaks by Walkden made the space for Leyland to grab his second Bold’s defence was getting on top against a much bigger Heysham pack and forced the mistake, allowing Walkden to scoot in under the posts.
Bold should have tied the game up but missed chances that were nearly fatal.
Heysham took advantage of Bold’s mistakes and scored the next two tries to leave the scores 18 apiece with only a few minutes remaining.
Webster’s attempt at a drop goal was just wide and in the next set Heysham slotted one over to take the lead.
Bold were not finished yet and a short kick off was collected by the ever improving McCabe, who forced the pass out to Anders.
He again found wingman Leyland who scored in the corner and complete a great hat trick.
League contenders Heysham threw everything they had from to restart but O'Dowd guided Bold home.
Grundy Excavations mom went to powerhouse prop Tommy Higgins, with Walkden and Leyland worth a mention.
