Haydock 48 Bank Quay Bulls 22
2:09pm Thursday 8th August 2013 in Sport
HAYDOCK’S North West Men’s Premier Division title challenge continued with a home win against Bank Quay Bulls on Saturday.
Winger Karl Dingsdale collected four tries and four conversions as man-of-the-match Dean Dollin played a role in a majority of the hosts’ 48 points.
Dollin first offloaded for Dingsdale to score a converted try, before kicking down field for Scott Johnson to collect and open Haydock a 12-point lead after seven minutes.
Ex-Wire player Mark Foster and loose forward Danny Woods replied for Bulls – Nick Braid converting both – to level the scores.
Braid added a try to put the visitors in front, only for Dingsdale to weave his way between the posts from kick off and add the extras.
Dingsdale added another minutes later, going over after Chris Smith combined with Dollin, who converted.
Dollin ensured Haydock entered the interval in front, running at the Bulls defence from 80 metres before collecting his own tremendous kick to score, Dingsdale on hand to convert.
Bulls hit back after the break as Braid converted winger Cayman Smith’s try, but Dingsdale’s quick tap and 75-metre run saw the winger collect his fourth try and allow Dollin to add the extras.
With Haydock’s pressure building, Scott Johnson was awarded a penalty try and Bulls’ stand off dismissed for a punch, Dollin inevitably converting to give the hosts a 20-point cushion.
Dollin added his final points of the game after Carl Cheetham scooped up a kick to go over and seal the win on 68 minutes.
