A HUNDRED or so people armed with shovels helped get the game on and just over 5,000 braved the elements at a snowy Langtree Park to see Saints triumph.

There was a determination to get the game played on Friday - no matter what - but it made for one of the most bizarre setting for a Super League clash.

No wonder coach Nathan Brown declared that he had "never seen anything like it."
