Wello's outlook has made tough decision easier for Nathan Brown

Paul Wellens
PAUL Wellens will definitely return to action for Friday night’s visit of Salford.(8pm) But Nathan Brown has not yet decided where he plans on playing him now that Jonny Lomax has taken the number one spot, although loose forward is likely.
However, Brown singled out his skipper for praise over the way he has handled being moved from the full back berth that he has had nailed down since 2000.
Brown said: “Wello will definitely be playing - I am not sure where depending on the fitness of the squad, but he will definitely play.
“Wello’s number one thought is the team.
“He is a St Helens boy and wants to do what is best for the team.
“With Jonny doing well at full back, Wello just wants to play his part and is happy to be in a team that is doing well.
“It is a credit to him that he is not single minded on just playing the position where he has played his entire career.
“It has made it easier because a lot of older players don’t handle things like this very well.
“If you have achieved what Paul has achieved in the game your position becomes a bit sacred.
“But Wello has made it easy because of the way he is - with him the team is first and foremost.”
