PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP:
A Chris Stephenson field-goal five minutes from time helped HULL DOCKERS see off LOCK LANE 23-16.
The home side managed tries from Danny Rowse, Tom Wood and James Cryer – plus two Rowse conversions, but it proved to be in vain as the Dockers claimed their second win of the season.
A brace from centre James Beaumont was complimented by further efforts from Andrew Taylor and Dom Proctor, whilst Taylor’s three goals and the late strike from Stephenson proved enough.
EGREMONT RANGERS maintained top spot with a stunning 36-6 win over LEIGH MINERS RANGERS.
Winger Ryan Barnes was a standout performer as he crossed for a hat-trick of tries, whilst he was followed over the whitewash by Peter Murphy, Blake Mahovic and Rhys Davies.
The reliable boot of stand-off John Paul Brocklebank tagged on five goals, whilst the visiting Miners could only register a Ryan Monaghan touchdown and Jonny Youds conversion in response.
THATTO HEATH CRUSADERS came out on top 22-18 in a seesaw encounter with WEST HULL.
The home side registered tries from Chris Frodsham, Darren Woods (2) and Luke Bradshaw, plus three goals from full-back Shaun Quinn.
The visitors were 16-10 adrift at half-time and had Matty Plummer (2) and Tom Cook to thank for their touchdowns, as Josh Hart was on target with three goals.
A good display from SIDDAL saw them run out 26-6 winners over SKIRLAUGH.
Winger Steve Hope gave them an early lead as Gareth Blackburn improved matters with the first of his five goals, and that proved to be the only points of a hard-fought first half.
Prop Luke Garnett crashed over to increase the hosts lead just after the re-start before Chris Brooke’s effort on the hour-mark made the game safe.
The Hull-based visitors managed a Thomas Salter try and Jason Bell conversion to reduce the gap, but it was not to be as Andrew Fox raced in and Blackburn kicked his final goal to complete the scoring.
A 70th minute try from Adam Dwyer – goaled by Chris Boylan – helped INCE ROSE BRIDGE to a 22-18 victory over EAST HULL.
Ryan Eccleston (2) and Calum Hughes crossed for the hosts other tries as Boylan finished with three goals to his name.
The visitors – who led 12-10 at half-time – crossed for three tries of their own as Carl Puckering improved efforts from Ryan Steen, Lee Roberts and Lewis Brown.
WIGAN ST PATRICKS opened their 2013 account with a 27-18 win on the road at YORK ACORN.
A brace from Ryan Smith, plus tries from Simon Atherton and Steve Simm – along with five goals from Brad Smith – proved enough for St Pats.
Acorn marksman Andy Gargan kicked three goals for the home side as Danny Caldwell, Adam Sellers and Joe Porter all crossed.
The repeat of the 2012 Grand Final between MYTON WARRIORS and WATH BROW HORNETS fell victim to the weather as heavy rain rendered the Hull sides pitch unplayable.
RESULTS: Saturday March 16, Egremont Rangers 36 v 6 Leigh Miners Rangers, Lock Lane 16 v 23 Hull Dockers, Ince Rose Bridge 22 v 18 East Hull, Myton Warriors P v P Wath Brow Hornets, Siddal 26 v 6 Skirlaugh, Thatto Heath Crusaders 22 v 18 West Hull, York Acorn 18 v 26 Wigan St Patricks.
