Portico 32 Hindpool Tigers 22
8:35pm Sunday 17th March 2013 in Sport
Portico kept their nerve in a tense game which was hard fought for by both teams.
The Poets pressed hard in the opening exchanges but opened the scoring after a Portico scrum on the Hindpool 20 metres line, the ball was moved across the line through four pairs of hands to Dale Croft who scored in the opposite corner.
Portico continued to exert pressure and from a Rooney up and under full back John Greenall chased through to collect the ball evade two would be tacklers and score under the posts.
Dale Croft once again profited from a good flowing cross pitch move to score once again near the corner flag.
Portico pressed their domination by scoring twice more before half time through Simms and form the alert Rooney to give them a half time lead of 26.0
The half time break did wonders for Hindpool, they came out with all guns firing and scored three quick fire tries through Nathan Sneesby 2 and Daryl Archer.
At this point with the game in the balance and with Hinpool threatening to claw themselves back in the game Adam Arnold stepped up for Portico and relieved the mounting pressure when he stepped through the Hindpool defence to score a well take try.
Once again though the visitors hit back when Adam Martin slid through the mud under the sticks. Portico saw through the remaining time to come out in the end as worthy winners.
Ravenhead Cleaners Man of the Match Mike Parr once again converted four of the Portico tries.
